I’m currently sitting at Buffalo Wild Wings, which is affectionately called Bdub’s in my world. I just completed a yummalicious meal that included Diet Coke, french fries, and Carribian Jerk coated boneless wings and life as I know it…is good.
I haven’t blogged anything of substance in quite some time (or ever) and must confess when I title a post that includes the word “Bdubalicious,” it clearly shows that this post will not buck the tradition of being less than thought-provoking and lighthearted with the words that flow from my pointless mind. I do feel the itch to get back into the posting life so to keep the brain working and thinking, which may not translate into actuality in all honesty.
As I stated, I just finished a great all-american meal at Bdub’s and am sitting in this fine world-class establishment sipping (or in my case: gulping) down Diet Coke and looking around at those who have chosen to enjoy great food. I can’t help but think about how recent history has brought a new meaning to change in the United States.
I think about that as Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and how much I love the tradition of a good turkey dinner with family. I get to go to Pennsylvania come Tuesday with my mother and spend the holiday with family. Family. Family will bring a whole new meaning come next holiday season as I will be married and the meaning expands along with expectations of what “we” will do for the holidays. As I said, Thanksgiving has its traditions in my family, but change will occur…in the words of the like it or not president-elect.
I’m totally open to changing tradition, but in a spiritually-minded question to myself and maybe you: are Christians willing to be involved in change? I feel like in the world we live in with the new political history that just took place, there are alot of Christians who struggle to accept that change has occured in the form of Barack Obama being the president in a couple of months. Though I was uncertain who would be the best president come next term, I have accepted the fact that Obama will be the president and I only hope that God uses him as he has used presidents in the past to bring about the true change we need in our once God-fearing country. Will Christians who vow that Obama = the Antichrist be able to swallow their differences and support the change that has occurred or will the continue to follow in the stereotype of hypocrisy that we so often are lumped into because we are unwilling to accept others unconditionally. That means putting all politics, race, and questions of most qualified aside and rallying behind the one that God allowed to become our next president.
As I sit and continue to type this awfully long post out at Bdub’s, I question myself as to how many people around me accepts the history altering change that comes with Obama more than the average tradition-loving conservative Christian who is called to be a person of acceptance and a proponent of change in the lives of others. Are you still griping about the change that has occurred in our nation or as a Christian, are you willing to accept, pray, and hope for the best to come from the one who God appointed to by our next leader?
I choose change in my life and pray for the same in the hearts of those who dig their heals in the ground and won’t accept the inevitable.
live a life that blesses our loving, never-changing Creator
Jason!!! Good to see another post … and on a new blog site! Your thoughts and posts are always thought-provoking. (Unless of course it has to do with the Steelers… then it’s just mind-numbing.)
Thanks for the thoughts. …and it made my day when I saw you had blogged again! Looking forward to reading more. Grace and Peace.
I thought I left a comment on your blog. …did it get erased? (Or did I just not leave a comment?)
…umm…. you kinda fizzled out after one post.
